Ninjas vs. Knights
Ninjas vs. Knights is a third-person shooter capture-the-flag game developed using Unity, built as the final project for CSE 389 (was 487) at Miami University. In this game, you and a team of AI-controlled ninjas must travel to the enemy castle and steal their flag. However, at the same time, a team of AI-controlled knights is trying to steal the flag from your village! Show them who's boss by capturing their flag and bringing it back to your base. You can pick up and fire a variety of guns to help secure your chances of capturing the enemy's flag.
Built around a Unity "systems" stack for a 3rd-person CTF loop: a GameManager handles spawning (player, friendly AI, enemies, and weapon pickups), UI, pause/audio, and win/lose scene flow; combat uses a shared weapon/bullet pipeline with pickup guns, fire modes (e.g., shotgun spread), clip ammo + fire-rate, and reload timing tied to animations for both player and NPCs; aiming toggles an IK rig + reticle and shifts to an over-shoulder camera; death spawns a ragdoll and runs an auto-respawn loop; and title-screen difficulty scales enemy stats. NPCs on both teams run NavMeshAgent state machines with clear priorities (engage/backpedal/aim/shoot when close, recover/return dropped flags, otherwise route via midpoints), plus a small random path choice to avoid always beelining.
